Chaloklum Beach: A Deep Dive into Local Life
Located in the north of Koh Phangan, Chaloklum Beach is a charming blend of local fishing village and beautiful coastline. The beach is known for its calm, deep waters, making it an excellent spot for swimming. With a more relaxed and authentic vibe, this beach is ideal for visitors seeking to experience the local side of the island.
Chaloklum is a popular fishing village, and many longtail boats are often docked in the middle of the bay. However, the best places for swimming are found on either side of the beach, particularly on the eastern end where the waters are clearer and deeper.
Getting There and What to Expect
Chaloklum Beach is easily accessible by road, and you can park near the village before walking to the beach. The bay is surrounded by scenic mountains, adding to the peaceful atmosphere of the area. On the right side of the bay, you’ll find the deepest waters, perfect for swimming and a refreshing dip.
On Sundays, Chaloklum’s night market comes alive in the village near the pier, offering local food, handicrafts, and a chance to immerse yourself in the local culture.
